Welcome to the Summer term 2016

Hello eveyone and welcome back!

So after a long dark winter, summer’s on the way and we’ll soon be outside again playing cricket and having fun on the field.

We’ve got lots to tell you and as you will see our summer programme is now available for you to print out and keep on the fridge.

The next event on the calendar is Sunday 24th April for the St George’s Day parade in Petworth Park. This is a really important date and as with Remembrance Sunday, all of our Cubs are expected to be there. There’s all the information on the website. We’ll be working for the next two pack evenings on creating dragon masks and Knights shields as everyone is expected to dress up this year and really get into the spirit of things.

Jacala’s been busy as always and has now got 3 camps all lined up. We’ll be going to Nowhurst for a weekend in June, Ardingly for the Sussex 100 Centenary in July and Stedham again in September so lots to look forward to.
We still have spaces for the Centernary camp but you’ll need to get in quickly as we have to submit our final numbers and payment this week. If you would ike to join any of our camps then please book using group spaces or if unsure then please just come and ask.

Don’t forget that parents can get involved as well and we always welcome additional parent helpers not just on pack evenings but also at camp. There is more information about helping at our meetings online. With us it isn’t just the child that joins the cubs – it is a family affair and we hope everybody feels welcome. If you are not sure what you could do to help please ask, or see our join us page for some ideas.

As it’s a new term then subs are now due again I’m afraid and if you can please help us by paying as soon as possible we would really appreciate it. Bacs is the easiest way to pay your subs and so please just let me know if you need our bank details or any assistance. Subs are £35 per person per term. We’re still offering a £10 per person per term reward for our Easyfundraising supporters (see our Subs Explained document if you want to understand how this works).

Don’t forget you can all help raise money for us when you shop online. It’s so easy, you just register at easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/parbrookcubs. Every time you then shop on Amazon, at John Lewis, Argos or most places they give the pack a donation. All the money you raise stays with Parbrook Cubs and is used to keep camp fees and subs as low as we can. You’ve all helped to raise over £ 2,000 so far which is an incredible effort and so please keep it up.

Can we also have your Sainsbury’s active kids vounchers as well please as they help to buy all sorts of useful things such as games and camping accesories that we always need.

So, thanks for your time and your continued support and we look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday.

Many thanks, Akela
