Report: Astronomer’s badge weekend, Feb16

For our spring term night away we returned to Earleywood Camp site near Ascot. Although mainly indoors we were also able to explore the rather muddy camp site between the rain showers.  During the weekend we worked on the astronomer’s badge but had plenty of time for other camp activities too. This was a level 2 camp as we slept on the floor of the activity centre.

Each Cub researched an astronomical subject and presented their findings to the rest of the group. We also made solar system maps and star scopes.

At the end of camp everybody was presented with their astronomer badge, added two nights away to their score and got an Earleywood camp site badge to sew onto their camp blanket.

We were grateful to have so many adult helpers. We were pleased to be able to present first time camper badges to Jane, Keego and Ali and hope that we’ll see you all again at another camp. Thanks as ever to Marian for coordinating everything in the kitchen and for producing another weekend of wonderful food. We’d also like to thank Linda for joining us on Saturday to help with the astronomy. Sadly Saturday night was cloudy so we couldn’t use the telescope.

We’re trying out Google photo stories to show you what happened at camp. If you aren’t keen on that format you can also see the photos without the captions in our Google photo album.
