Our weekend camp in September takes us back to one of our favourite sites at Stedham near Midhurst in the South Downs. We enjoyed finding out about France for our Billingshurst Show float so thought we’d use the theme for the whole weekend. There will be plenty of time for the usual camp fires and wide games too. It will be a level 3 camp as we will be sleeping in tents.
Nous allons à la South Downs pour un thème camp de week-end française en Septembre. Nous espérons que vous voudrez vous joindre à nous pour notre dernier camp de tentes de l’année.
Where: We will be camping at Stedham camp site near Midhurst
Directions: You will need to make your own way to and from the site. The lanes that give access to the camp site are extremely narrow so please follow our one way system to avoid meeting too many other parents in places where passing is difficult. This will take you via Woolbeding when going to the site and via Stedham village when leaving. Even then you will have to use Tote Lane in both directions. The journey from Billingshurst should take around 40 minutes. You can find directions online.
When: We start at 7pm on Friday 25 September. Please do not arrive before that as we will still be preparing the site. Camp will run through until 3.45pm on Sunday 27 September with a closing ceremony at 3.30pm.
What: We’ll have a full weekend of activities to keep us busy as we work for our new International badge and my World challenge. We’ll also have plenty of time for games in the woods and a few other challenges on the way. On Sunday we hope to be able to fit in rifle shooting to see if those that came to Summer Camp have improved since then.
Who: Our guest list has now closed and we hope that nobody else will drop out as we have had a few this time. We’ll have Marian looking after things in the kitchen and Akela, Jacala and Tabaqui will be joined by Hawkeye, John Harris, Mike Devereux and Andrew Webster. However, we’d still like a kitchen helper on Saturday afternoon to help prepare dinner.
If you are on our list then don’t forget that we’ll need the usual online health and consent form (hf). Because our activities include rifle shooting we have to have specific permission to allow your Cub to take part in that activity so do make sure that you tick the box. Without it the instructors will not allow the Cub to shoot.

Cost: As usual we are using our Parbrook Cashback to keep down the costs that you have to pay – so remember to support us via Easy Fundraising when you shop online. This has reduced the cost you have to pay from £35 to £29 per person. Some of you paid a £9 deposit last term but full payment is now due. Those that have now paid their camp fees are shown as (pd) in the guest list.
Bring: The kit list shows all that you need to bring. There is nothing out of the ordinary required for this camp. Don’t forget that you must arrive at camp in uniform.
Previous camps: We used to visit Stedham every year but after our camp in 2012 it was put up for sale. This is the first year it has been open since then. Have a look at our reports from past events to see what it is like – just click on the reports link at the top of the page.
