Our summer term camp picks up the Brazil theme from the Billingshurst Show. We expect to climb Sugarloaf Mountain, explore the rain forest and head deep underground into the gold mines – all without leaving the camp site. This is a level 3 camp as we will be sleeping in tents.
Where: We’ll be camping at Walton Firs activity centre which is just off the A3 near Cobham
When: Camp starts at 7pm on Friday 13 June and runs through to 4pm on Sunday 15 June.
What: We’ll work towards one of the tasks in the global challenge as our activities help us discover more about Brazil. We’ve also a number of on-site activities booked including wall climbing (Sugarloaf mountain), caving (gold mine) and the legendary (and often muddy) activity course (exploring the rain forest)
Who: This camp is now full. We’re sorry that we had to limit the numbers at this camp but Walton Firs charge for activities in groups of 12 and we didn’t have enough campers to be able to afford two groups (24 Cubs).
The following Cubs have a place at this camp: Grace, Alex, Zack, Craig, Lily, Adam M, Jake, Ollie, Adam S, Olivia, Holly and Harry
Helpers: Akela, Jacala and Tabaqui are pleased to be joined by Hawkeye and John Harris on this camp. Marian will be looking after the kitchen, helped by Mel Nicholas.
Cost: The camp fee is £30 and most people have paid a £10 deposit to secure their place. This means that the balance of £20 is now due.
Bring: We’ll publish the kit list nearer the time but there are not likely to be any differences to the standard kit list.
Paperwork: You’ll need to complete our online health form before the event. It is now all done online – no need to print anything out.
Badges: We are not working on a specific badge at this camp but our activities will go towards the Outdoor and Global challenge in addition to adding two nights to your nights away score.
Walton Firs: We last visited Walton Firs in March 2012. You can see our photos from that event in our gallery.
